just a typical thursday

today started off great. i woke up at 830, hit the gym and had an awesome workout. came home and had my breakfast, a new creation i discovered today: gala apple dipped in natural peanut butter - yummy! and a protein shake. i went into the bathroom to shower and start getting ready for school. turn the water on to let it heat up..... its cold.... still cold.... the water ran for three minutes on the hottest setting and was still freezing! nooooo! my roommate calls our landlord and is informed that someone is coming to look at it between 11 and 3. oh great, i have to be at school at one, have a presentation and im still all sweaty and nasty from the gym! gaaaah! something like this would happen to me... my years of reading little house on the prairie with my mum kicked in. i fill the kettle with water and plug it in. having never had the need to birdbath, i didn't really know how this was going to work. as i waited for the kettle to boil, my roommate and i discussed my plan of attack. we concluded that i should definitely stand in the tub so i don't get water all over the place. the kettle started to boil. i brought the bowl of hot water into the bathroom and had my birdbath. needless to say, i am extremely grateful for hot running water, and i don't know how all those people managed to do that kind of bathing every day for hundreds of years!

now i'm all cleaned up and dressed, hopefully the water will be fixed by the time we get home tonight! what an experience haha! on the other hand, no hot water means we can't do the dishes.... ;)
